Glaze Maze
A terracotta clay blob rolls through a kiln-shaped maze eating clay pellets, while the Kiln's fired four hunt it down the corridors. Water drops soften the hunters for a few seconds, and soft clay can be squashed. Glaze Maze is the maze-chase classic, built from our own maze, characters and sounds.
What it is
The maze is twenty-one squares across with a tunnel through the sides. Clear every pellet and the level ends; the next kiln is hotter and the hunters quicker. The four hunters each chase in their own way: Ember comes straight for you, Slip cuts ahead to where you are going, Crackle works a pincer with Ember, and Smolder hunts from afar but backs off when you get close. There are four water drops around the maze. Eat one and the hunters go soft and wobbly for a short time: run into them then and they squash for 200, 400, 800 and 1600 points before they fire back up and return to the kiln door.
How to play
Learn the corners where a turn is easy to miss; a late turn costs you a step and a step is all a hunter needs. Save a water drop for the moment two hunters have you boxed in, and go after them in order of value. The tunnel through the sides is a good escape: the hunters slow right down inside it.
Controls
- Roll: the arrow keys or WASD. The blob keeps rolling; a new direction is taken at the next opening.
- On a phone or with a gamepad: the stick, or swipe.
